The return of Mercedes to Grand Prix racing at the French Grand Prix in 1954 caused a sensation. Two of their cars, under the control of Alfred Neubauer took the first two places. The eventual winner, Juan Manuel Fangio, is shown leading his team mate Karl Kling. In the background, the third Mercedes car of Hans Herrmann negotiates the Thillois corner.
